Yoga Class Levels

Beginner level
Basic poses are taught along with correct principals of alignment and how to correlate breathing with movement.

Level 1-2
A basic class for those students who would like to master the fundamentals and principles of forward folds, backbends and twists.

Level 2-3
A more vigorous class which builds heat and stamina thru poses such as sun salutations and standing poses. These classes are creative and stimulating. Postures include inversions and lotus poses. Prior yoga experience recommended.


Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga that cultivates physical, mental, and spiritual health. This progressive practice combines postures, breath and movement to stretch, strengthen and cleanse the body, while focusing and calming the mind. An invigorating practice, ashtanga draws on strength and endurance. The primary series is repeated in sequence and continual flow, in a warm room. Expect to sweat!


Belly Dance
Learn the timeless art of Egyptian style belly dance. By focusing on breathing & muscle isolation, improve your co-ordination, tone up the whole body and relieve stress. Appropriate for all sizes and shapes.
  • - Belly dance for beginners
    Learn basic dance techniques and movement. You will learn and practice sections of choreography, with the occasional use of props such as the veil, cane, or finger cymbals. The beginner's series should be repeated at least a few times to learn the minimal basics of belly dance. Every series offers something new so you will never be bored. Instructor's approval is required for enrollment in the intermediate level class.


  • - Belly dance for intermediate students
    For the dance student who wants more of a challenge and better understanding of the art form. The intermediate level class covers drills, layering of basic dance moves, more advanced choreographies, and an understanding of middle-eastern rhythms.


Capoeira Morrao
Capoeira is a 400-year-old martial art that blends music, dance, singing, and acrobatics to create a holistic approach to self-defense. Originating in Africa, Capoeira was brought to Brazil by captured slaves from Angola, Congo and Mozambique. In this foreign land the African people developed their practice into a method of defending themselves against their violent overlords. Like the slaves brought to the United States, the Africans blended their familiar call-and-response song forms with the regional dialect to create songs that glorified their homeland, deities, and future freedom. Capoeira is composed of cat like movements where participants collapse to the ground, use cartwheels, flips, handstands and many other deceptive movements to avoid strikes and injury by opponents. The practice of this art form assists in developing and increasing coordination and helps with flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular fitness.

Classes are for kids from 5 years old and up and for all adults and are on Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 and Sundays from 1:30 to 3:30. Adults will have class for two hours while kids will have class for the first hour.


Forrest Yoga
Forrest Yoga is a deeply engaging practice that will enliven your spirit! Combining directed breathing, core strengthening, and intense pose sequences, Forrest Yoga builds physical strength and flexibility as well as mental focus and resilience. It is a vigorous method that generates internal heat, allowing you to sweat out toxins while bringing vitality into every cell in your body.

This class is suitable for beginning to intermediate levels. Poses are adapted as necessary to provide each student with an appropriate level of challenge in a safe and supportive environment. Forrest Yoga emphasizes the importance of your own personal experience over achieving any particular physical form. Come enjoy the challenge of exploring your edge and the pleasure of revitalizing your body, mind, and spirit!


Group Kickboxing
Group Kickboxing is a martial arts skill based group workout class. In the beginner’s level class, you will learn the basics of kicking and punching and how to generate power while maintaining balance. In the mixed level class, you’ll learn more advanced kicks and punches and learn how to put them together in combinations. In both classes, you will hit pads, paddles and shields that your partner holds for you. Hitting things make a kickboxing workout a lot more fun and you’ll burn a lot more calories. Since you hit this equipment, you must make it to the first class of your first series in order to learn how to kick and punch safely. This is a high energy, fun class, so bring a towel and water bottle. This is not a self-defense course.


Hatha yoga is a 5000-year-old science that originated in India. It seeks through practice of the asanas and pranayamas (poses and breathing exercises respectively) to balance the duality of forces within man's nature. Its desired outcome is physical, mental and spiritual harmony.


Pilates Mat
Pilates, named for the man who developed the exercises, Joseph Pilates, is a series of movements and non-impact exercises designed to strengthen your core muscles (abs, hips, & low back.) Proper execution of these exercises will lead to better posture, proper spinal alignment, and overall total body strength & flexibility. Pilates also develops the awareness of a true mind-body connection which helps promote a feeling of physical and mental well-being.


Pre-Natal Yoga
Pre-natal yoga is an excellent way to prepare your body for all of the changes it goes through during pregnancy. It prepares you physically, mentally and emotionally for the natural process of childbirth.

In this class you will enjoy modified poses that will enhance muscular strength while encouraging an optimal range of softness and flexibility. Practicing yoga during your pregnancy lessens fatigue, increases energy, increases circulation, eases digestion, and enhances your body and mind's strength and flexibility. In addition, prenatal yoga often creates a good night's sleep!

Women are also welcome to attend this class after the birth of their child.


Tai Chi
Tai chi is an ancient martial art based exercise that is a series of flowing movements. It is a moving meditation that can strengthen legs, improve coordination, body awareness, and balance, and increase circulation. Tai chi helps reduce stress, quiet the mind and increase concentration.

Tai Chi for Seniors: Tai Chi originated in China many centuries ago as a non-aggressive martial art. Today it is widely practiced as a daily exercise with many health benefits. Done in slow circular movements without exertion, Tai Chi is an ideal exercise for Seniors. Among the many benefits of Tai Chi for Seniors is the improvement of balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls. Through regular practice students develop strength, flexibility, concentration and focus. Better body awareness, improved posture and proper breathing techniques contribute to a healthier respiratory, circulatory and cardiovascular system.


Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa yoga uses the natural rhythm of the breath to thread poses together, creating a dynamic yet soothing experience. It develops strength, flexibility, heightened body awareness and the ability to release tension commonly held in the muscles. Through energetic physical practice and conscious deep relaxation the mind gains increased capacity to focus.
