Introduction to Enlightenment Intensives
This talk is a free introduction to Enlightenment Intensives, a three-day residential meditation retreat whose purpose is to help you discover that which you most deeply desire - the truth of who you are. The form of this retreat is a partner-assisted meditation. Enlightenment intensives are not easy, but the discovery of the truth is priceless and worth every effort.
The enlightenment intensive centers around inquiry into the truth of who you are. For three days, you contemplate the question "Who am I? The aim of the inquiry is to have a direct experience of the truth, what is sometimes called an enlightenment experience. The power of this meditation is in the combination of contemplation with communication and non-judgmental listening.
In this talk you will hear about the history of intensives, how they are conducted, and what experiencing the truth directly means. You will also hear from several people who have taken intensives and you will get a chance to try out the central exercise of the intensive, the Contemplation and Communication Exercise.
This introduction is on Saturday, March 6th, from 1:30 to about 3:00 and is presented by John Stone. He offers 1 or 2 intensives a year at a retreat center outside of Madison, Wisconsin. His next retreat is on April 7th through the 11th. You can click on the link to go to his website.

Movie: The Power of Forgiveness
We are screening the award-winning film The Power of Forgiveness! This movie explores the promises and challenges of experiencing forgiveness, and the relationship of forgiveness for emotional, spiritual, physical and social health. Learn about forgiveness research. Hear about the dream of a Garden of Forgiveness at 9/11 Ground Zero. Watch as children learn a different way of responding to violence. Hear the wisdom of many faith traditions.
Following the film, we'll observe a brief silent meditation, then weave our first responses to the film with conversation and discussion led by Rev. Jacki Belile of Living Well Ministries. Together, we'll explore:
- A new definition of forgiveness which is freshly empowering and practical
- Distinctions between constructive anger and destructive resentments
- Guiding questions for attendees' next steps on the forgiveness path
We're showing the film on Saturday, March 27th from 7:00 to 9:30 and asking for a donation of $10. You can find out more about Rev. Jacki Belile at her website: www.LivingWellMinistries.net and more about the film at
